Two Han dynasty, especially the Former Han dynasty, is the significant period for the conversion of Chinese character from old form to new form, and established base for the conversion of the form of Chinese character in later period. Caoshu developed rapidly in this period. The period of Yinwan Caoshu started in the end of the Former Han dynasty, and ended in the Xin dynasty. This period played an important role in the conversion of Caoshu.This paper is base on several materials such as Slips in Tombs of Han Dynasty in Yinwan, Lu Xixing’s Han Dynasty Slips Cursive Character Code and stone edition of Jijiuzhang in Songjiang. The purpose is describing the characteristic of Yinwan Caoshu and the status in the development of Chinese character, through analyzing the same and different points of character among Yinwan Caoshu and other Caoshu of Han dynasty, Zhangcao, Lishu. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is a summary for the Caoshu of Han dynasty, including the time of appearance and the source of the name, the process of the producing of Caoshu. The second chapter introduces the situation of exhumation and current investigative situation of several important slips of Han dynasty. The third chapter introduces several editions of Jijiuzhang. The forth chapter generalizes the characteristic of the form of Yinwan Caoshu, through the comparing between Yinwan Caoshu and several other forms. The fifth chapter summarizes the status in the development of Chinese character and the significance for the researching of Yinwan Caoshu. It founded that there are two forms can be found in Yinwan Caoshu. One shows the characteristic of Jincao preliminarily, means that the development trend to Jincao had appeared in the Caoshu of Han dynasty. The other one shows the characteristic of Zhangcao, and incarnates the characteristic of Lishu. It means that the Caoshu of Han dynasty developed in several ways at the same time.
