A Study Of Functional Of Farewell Discourse

Farewell discourse,which used as a discourse carrier on speech acts，is to saygoodbye. These words often appear in the"language cline",and can begin or maintainthe interpersonal relationship. We analysis farewell discourse phenomena and function,with a dynamic perspective, which relate to context.The frame of this paper is based onthe”the three metafunctions”,and the “speech act theory”.The main four parts of the test are as followings:The first chapter,The definition of "Farewell discourse". Through the analysis ofthe farewell, we get the conclude that the farewell discourse have some characteristicsand we find out the differencese between it and other similar units. And on this basis,we define the farewell discourse, exploring the relation between the"threemetafunctions" and "farewell discourse", That is, the ideational functions act on thecontent of "farewell discourse", the interpersonal function roles in the linstener, thetextual function effect the farewell conversation structure.The second chapter,Ideational functions of farewell discourse,we analysis thecontent of the farewell discourse from transitivity function for three aspects：transitivity elements, transitivity sense, transitivity tendency.The third chapter, Interpersonal function of farewell discourse,In this part,weanalysis of the means of the realization for the interpersonal function of farewelldiscourse, making an on-the-spot investigation of the right side and the down sidefunctions on the farewell discourse.The fourth chapter is Textual function of farewell discourse, From the perspectionof textual function, analyzed the "farewell discourse" conversation structure,investigated the farewell discourse conversation structure. analyzes the cohesion and thepromotion of the farewell discourse.
