Tacitus is one of the greatest historians of the Roman Empire, and Annuls andHistoriae are his best masterpieces in history. Academic circles make a case study tothese two historians’ works or make an overall research on Tacitus and his writings. Ithas not yet been available to make a comparative study of academic achievements to thestyle of writing history of two history works. This paper, based on absorbing andlearning from the results of older generation above, makes a comparative study ofwritten history style to Historiae and Annuls.Annuls and Historiae are his academic works of an independent thought whichhave formed a school of its own. Two history works are naturally of very similarity;however, the author does not specifically explore common features, but considers thedifferences between two history works to be more valuable. By means of comparativeanalysis of the style of writing history, an apparent difference can be shown in that ofHistoriae and Annuls. To trace the origins, the differences lies in the purpose of writingand the writing time of Tacitus, and meanwhile the main reasons consist in distinctionsof the writing background and theme of two history works.This article consists of five parts. The first Chapter is pandect, in which the authorthinks that the focus of the pandect is reflected in four aspects such as: overview of thestudy, research value, content and structure of study, research methods and purpose inorder to illustrate the conception of author for this article and unscramble the presentcondition of research, and at the same time point out the value of creation and researchperspective of this article. From Chapter two to Chapter four is the core part of thepaper in which the author, by means of a comparative study of differences of style ofwriting history between Annuls and Historiae, analyzes further the distinction ofhistorical background, text style, writing content, narrative structure and history thoughtof the two works, as well as historical status and history effects of the two masterpieces.In the last conclusion, all the issues discussed in this article would be summarized.
