Scholars had much study of the Tongcheng school,but there also have some scarcities. Most researchers are concerned about the literature theory construction of Tongcheng school, the relationship between Tongcheng school and other schools, and how to maintain the feudal orthodox Brahmins of Tongcheng scholars and so on. However, there is little involve of the dissemination of Tongcheng school. As the largest schools of prose writing of literary world’s in Qing Dynasty, Tongcheng founded by Fang Bao in the period of Kangxi, and with the effort of Liu Dakui and Yao Nai, the theory of Tongcheng school became mature. Ultimately, in times of Yao Nai,no other articles can surpass Tongcheng school.Thereafter, under the effort of followers of Tongcheng school, it broke the regional limitation, gradually spread to all other parts of the country. It is very necessary and valuable to study the foundation of Tongcheng school, the three founders of Tongcheng school and its academic communication. This paper is divided into three chapters, which aims at to discuss those parts.The first chapter elaborated the reason of the rise of the Tongcheng school from the special social environment in early Qing Dynasty and the specific cultural environment of Tongcheng.The ruling foundation is not solid in early Qing period. Therefore, at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, the rulers tried to respected Neo-Confucianism and Literary inquisition in order to shift the direction of intellectual’s study. Fang Bao,the founder of Tongcheng school, affected by this, absorbed the Neo-Confucianism into the classical theory. While Tongcheng’s unique natural, cultural environment, provided unique conditions to the founding of Tongcheng school.The second chapter demonstrates Tongcheng school’s communication network from the identity interpretation of the three ancestral of Tongcheng school and the transmissional mode and communication platform of Tongcheng school. In the early process of propagation of Tongcheng school, the three ancestral of Tongcheng school played a decisive role because their special identity and social status in the community, which formed a kind of cultural appeal. In addition, through the writings, correspondence and interpersonal communication, Tongcheng school gradually expanding the scope of the spread. Especially with the help of college, Tongcheng sent from the province gradually spread to the outside, eventually became the dominate of the literary arena in the Qing Dynasty for more than two hundred years.The third chapter discourses the geographical space diffusion of the Tongcheng school from the Province dissemination and Foreign proliferation. There is a close relationship between Tongcheng prose and stereotyped writing. After the founding of Tongcheng school, under the efforts of three ancestors and his disciples of Tongcheng school, its propagation breakthrough geographical restrictions, from Anhui province to neighboring Jiangsu, diffusion in Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong and other Eastern regions. Under the influence of the disciples of Tongcheng, such as Zeng Guofan,West Ridge five and followers of Zeng Guofan, Tongcheng school spreaded throughout Hunan, Guangxi, Hebei and some other areas. It finally realizes the diffusion of Tongcheng school in the whole country.The case of three ancestral of the Tongcheng school, the foundation of Tongcheng school and its scholarly communication, for us to recognize the social phenomenon which involved the rise and development of literature in history has important guiding role. |
