Lyrical Ballads, produced in conjunction with Coleridge,establishes the idea of Nature as the measure by which to judge whether a poem’sexpression of feeling is genuine or not.Based on Emmanuel Kant’s Critique of Judgement, the thesis addresses the aestheticthoughts in Wordsworth’s poetry. The whole thesis is divided into five chapters. ChapterOne is a general introduction to William Wordsworth and his works, as well as a literaturereview. Chapter Two expounds on the beautiful concerning the form and feelings reflectedin tranquility. Chapter Three elucidates the subject’s experience in the face of the sublimewhich incorporates the sublime in the magnitude and might in nature and the sublime inGod. Kant’s Analytic of the Sublime is applied to this chapter to study Wordsworth’s poetry.Chapter Four analyzes aesthetic thoughts in returning to nature and in his natural language.Chapter Five is a conclusion part.
