Language is the carrier of culture. In the study of Chinese language, foreign students often come across shocks between two cultures. Some of them could easily understand and accept what they have learned. Others, however, find it difficult to understand, in this case, culture shock occurs. As a result, as to foreign students, especially mediate-level students, it is significant for them to learn Chinese culture. In this way, it is necessary to analyze and to do some research on culture learning in the teaching of Chinese language. This thesis chooses to analyze three sets of comprehensive Chinese books of mediate-level. In the first place, the author picks up cultures appearing in each book and classifies them into different sorts. And then, cultures that often appear in books can be got and can be used in further study. Secondly, compare and further study these cultures in books in the respect of text and the way cultures are taught. Thirdly, design a questionnaire on cultures in the books to get to know if the foreign students are interested in certain kinds of cultures and how they master these cultures. Finally, according to the results of the questionnaire, the author divides cultures into two groups--dominance cultures and cultures with biased errors. This thesis is to give advice on how to select cultures in complying comprehensive Chinese for mediate-level students. |
