Zhang Shi(1133-1180), also named Jingfu, Nanxuan. He was called Mr. Nanxuan by scholars. He was from Nan Song Hanzhou Mianzhu(now Sichuan Mianzhu). Zhang Shi is more recognized as a scientist while his literary achievements are rarely discussed so far in literary history. But in fact, he had a lot of literary works which have literary charm. The works not only reflected his ideological inclination of science, but also reflected his literary thoughts and achievements and moreover reflected the literary ideas of the scientist in his generation. His works is an important aspect of the Nan Song dynasty literary creation. No matter for literary history or history of philosophy, Zhang Shi’s poetry and poetic thoughts form an important element of the historical stage of Nan Song. Clarifying the relationship between them is of great importance for understanding the historical development pattern of poetic creation and impact of science to literature. Contemporary people only emphasize the research on Zhang Shi’s philosophy thoughts and educational ideas, emphasize his historical role and impact on philosophy history and education history but ignore the research on his literary creation and literary thoughts, and also ignore his role and influence in the develop process of literary history. This is neither comprehensive nor scientific. This thesis focuses on the research of Zhang Shi’s poetry and poetic thoughts, trying to fill the blank of this research area and provide some ideas for the full-scale research on Zhang Shi’s literal creation and literal thoughts in the future.Zhang Shi’s poetic thought include three aspects:the first one is interpretation of the nature of poetry. He confirms that poetry is a carrier for scientist’s "Dao"; the second one is the understanding of poetry’s functionality. He thinks that poetry should have the role of education so poetry can be enhanced by science; the third one is the requirements of poetry creation, poetry should be real in the content while circumbendibus in expression. This thesis gives a creative summary for Zhang Shi’s poetic thoughts and analyzes the historical significance of his poetic thoughts. This thesis has the idea that Zhang Shi’s poetic thoughts are inseparable from his scientific thoughts. His proposal of "scholars’poetry" is based on resolving the conflict between science and poetry; is inheritance and development of the former agent scientist Wen Daoguan; is a reasonable explanation of scientists writing poetry and eases the contradiction between science and poetry.Zhang Shi’s poetry themes can be divided into two main classes: exchanging singing and landscape. His exchanging singing also contains educational content and concern of the society; his landscape poetry is real and natural. Zhang Shi’s poetry has the style based in favor of simple and natural, light and flavored. The formation of this style is very much related to his use of allusions, imagery, duality and so on artistic techniques. The analysis of Zhang Shi’s poetic thoughts and poetic creation point out Zhang Shi’s poetic thoughts had a significant impact on his poetry writing. This article deeply analyzes the relationship between Zhang Shi’s poetic thoughts and poetic creation. It can be divided into three parts. First of all, the understanding of the nature of "Poetry is the carrier of DAO" makes Zhang Shi had self-alertness attitude during the poetry writing. Secondly, Zhang Shi considered the poetry should have the moral educated function which required the thought of his poetries were more interested in orthodox and practicability. He pursued the nature and harmony. Hence, his poetries tend to be dull. Finally, the’truth’and’noble’are Zhang Shi’s self-disciplined during his poetry writing and also became an important aesthetic standard to enjoy his poetries. The poetries of Zhang Shi went through four dynasties, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing. They had widespread influence in Song dynasty but few attentions at Qing dynasty. This is not just about the art value of the poetries, but also with the Flourishing and fading of science which explains the acceptance of poetry can’t be apart from the personality, the knowledge and the social class of poet.
