Humor is the indispensable component of cartoon. Humor of Americancartoon and that of Japanese cartoon have their unique style. Both of them arewarmly welcomed by people all over the world. Chinese present cartoonsneither reflect the aesthetic orientation nor adapt to all the age levels andvarious audience. The theme and style of containing education in amusementhas not been changed. The children are still the main audience.In recent years, Chinese market is glutted with American cartoon andJapanese cartoon. The phenomenon of cultural invasion appears ceaselessly.Humor element helps American cartoon to sell well, which forces Chinesecartoon maker to pursue proper humor element to attract audience. Thecreation and development of Chinese cartoon call for deconstructing anddigging popular humor elements of Chinese characteristics in cartoon. Thecorresponding economic benefits will be produced with it.In the development of social civilization, traditional humor has beenunable to meet entertainment needs of the audience. There is newinterpretation and classification about the humorous language, types andcharacteristics of humor in the information society. This paperrespectively discusses different types of humor and various humorouslanguages and attempts to find the favorite humor elements andexpressive ways in cartoon creation. The author puts emphasis on thedigging and refining of the features in present popular types of humorand the humor elements of the favorite folk art in China. This thesis,combined with the current popular humor elements, begins from thedisusing of avoiding the single form of Chinese traditional humor andresearches the ways of humor in cartoon to meet the expectation of theaudience.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part is the generalintroduction. The second, the fourth and fifth parts are the importance of thearticle. The second part simply introduces the connotation and definition of humor and analyzes the types of humor from the social perspective. Inaddition, it also explains the meanings of various types of humor and givesexamples to analyze the connotation, features and ways of producing thehumors. The third part, from cultural diversities between western countriesand china, discusses and analyzes humors in different contexts. After that, itis a summary of the features of Chinese and western humors. The fourth part,starting from the most popular forms of humor, analyzes the film andtelevision works and the art of singing which takes comic dialogues, sketches,duets, humors in Hong Kong and Taiwan as representatives. It also discussesthe current favorite kinds of humor by using classic examples. The fifth part,from the perspective of globalization, argues at how to create humorouscartoon of Chinese character. The sixth part is a conclusion of the wholearticle.This article, starting from the cultural, social, and psychological andother factors, studies and analyzes different forms of humor to find thesuitable ones which meet the preference of the present audience. Thus, it haspractical significance. It also demonstrates that the humor, which is full thespirit of times and is able to express the voice of audience, is welcome. Itpoints out that loving humor and laughing is human nature. Humor reflectsreality and reality produces humor.In China, many outstanding humor styles have been produced sincemodern times. Extracting and transforming some humorous elements andapplied them to cartoon creation will receive good cultural and economiceffect.
