| Translation Equivalence is the core value of Western translating theory. Also, westerntheoreticians take it as the criteria of macroscopic evaluation of translation. From the developingprocess of Translation Equivalence Theory, Chinese and western translation theorists are all inpursuing this equivalence, and hoping to transform the source languages to target languagescompletely in structure and content. However, through the comparison of translated works andoriginal ones, this absolute translation equivalence cannot be achieved.Through the translation of those chosen chapters in Inside U.S. Culture and life, this translationpractice aimed to study the impacts which are produced by the great differences among Chineseand western society, life, culture and religion etc., especially focused on the relativity oftranslation equivalence which is caused by Chinese and English language and culturedifferences. In addition, the paper also made a conclusion about those difficult problems which were met inthe process, with expectations to find more proper methods approaches in translating. |
