Primary Study On Round Jade Carving Of Ancient China

Round jade carving is the vital part of jade culture in ancient China. It firstappears in the Song Dynasty and reaches the height of its grandeur in Qianlong time ofQing Dynasty, and then it gradually disappears with the collapse of the feudal society.This paper shows the systematic presentation and analysis about round jade carving, atthe same time, author tries to analyze the reasons of round jade carving’ s emergence,development and demise through analyzing the variation of shape and quantity.The paper is composed of five parts:The first part is introduction which briefly introduce the round jade carving’ snamed, subject matter, also the representative works and the research status of everyperiods. Point out the research directions and writing significance of this paper in orderto prepare the next part.Secondly, it is analytic and comparative study of round jade carving from theSong to the Yuan Dynasty. In this part, author introduces round jade carving concretelyby studying of the Song, Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties’.The third part is analytic and comparative study of round jade carving of thaQing Dynasty. Due to the change in value of extraordinary disparity in the variousperiod of Qing Dynasty, so these round jade carvings are divided into three stages.According to the different subject matters of the round jade carving, author carries outa detailed classification about each period.Research on correlative issue is the fourth part. It includes the source of roundjade carving, the influence factors of development and the inscriptions on it. Afteranalysis, this article believed that, round jade carving is likely to be evolved from jadebutton. The main factors of affecting development in round jade carving including thefollowing ones: Firstly, it is about the amount of jade material. Secondly, the level ofoverall social development, including the economic and technology level and so on.Thirdly, the factor is about the aesthetic of that time’s people, in other words, we cancall it is people’s demands. The inscriptions on the round jade carving are only found in the Qianlong time whose content are the poem written by Emperor Qianlong andseal.Conclusion is the fifth part and it’s the summary of all the complete text. And thesame time, author points out the research results and inadequacies of this article.
