The Bad Marriage Customs Of Hindu And Their Impact On The Social Status Of Hindu Women

As the world’s largest democracy state, after independence,Indian’s economy has achieved rapid development,and more,its political power position becomes more and more obvious. However,behind its great economic and political achivements,there are more and more serious social problems,such as racial discrimination, sectarian conflict, gender discrimination,and so on, these social problems has become a stumbling block for Indian on the road to further civilization, if these problems are not resolved, Indian will be difficult to achieve its dream of became a great country. Among those, along with the trend of women’s liberation in the world, the social status of Hindu women also attracted great attention. It is hard to imagine that when the women of the most countries in the world have been obtained the equal legal status with men,the Hindu women are still deeply affected by the traditional religious idea,which was women are inferior to men,child marriage、dowry、sati and other bad customs are still deeply affect the devout Hindus. Since India’s independence in 1947,although the government has enacted a series of measures to recognize that all people are equal before the law and oppose the discrimination against women, yet because the traditional religious idea take strong root,the Hindu women are still subject to discrimination, their social status are still very low. In response to this situation,the paper has done a detailed discuss, primarily analysed of the bad customs which was influenced of Hindu women’s social status,and expounded these bad customs’influnce on the Hindu women’s social status. In addition,in the sixth part of this paper,I also analyzed the contemporary Hindu women how to deal with the challenge of the traditional ideal and improve themselves social status from the perspective of the social gender theory. In the modern society, The equality of the sexes has became a important yardstick measured the degree of social civilization,if India want to achive its dream of became a great country in the world,it must face up to the problem of the status of Hindu women,not only recognize the equal status of women at law,but also make more efforts to eliminate the influence of the traditional bad customs, improve the social status of Hindu women thoroughly.
