The Lord of the Rings which is the first writing of the fantasy fictions becomes popular because of the movies The Lord of the Rings. J.R.R.Tolkien, the British language learner and professor, who created the series of The Lord of the Rings, becoming more famous because of the movies in the same names. This essay will study upon these texts. In these novels, there are huge structure, complicated meanings, many typical characters, and so on. Because of the Ring, everybody in the Middle Earth fell in huge danger, and it led to a great war between the human and the Dark Lord. And the trilogy are filled with rich medieval style, and full of mysterous Shaman culture. The number of the monographs and papers that study The Lord of the Rings is very large, and most of them refer to the myths, religious consciousness, linguistics, culture studies and more. Though all of them have fruitful results, the studies on specific imagies of The Lord of the Rings are poor. And this paper studies the specific imagies in accordance with the text of The Lord of the Rings.Image is the carier of the aesthetic, this paper dates back to the three image generations: the Ring refers to the battle between good and evil. The Sword refers to the power and the conquer, calls up the ideal monarch humannity. The Wizard pursuits mysterious culture, fighting against the arrogation of the modennity. The three images in the series of The Lord of the Rings lead them to the honor, the achievement of the book of the century.The introduction includings the creation of the three novels and research status.The brief introduction combs the domestic and international research status of the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings, and clarifies the meaning and the value of these researches. Image is the most original memory of the human, and over these images, this text evokes the inner desire to the old memory of all the human in the modern society. The first chapter begins with the image of the ring, and from the ring we will know the history of the cursed ring, and its prototype; Next, we will understand the meaning of the ring from the philosophical level of the human thinking and exploration; From the tempt of the ring in the text, we know the resistance and the struggle of different characters in the different levels, and from this Tolkien thought about the sin and the boundary line of the good and the evil.The second chapter is the image of the word, and from the sacred sword we will know the history literature and the mythology of the sacred sword and its prototype; This image goes through all the storylines of the trilogy, and from the image we can feel the medieval knight spirit style. The image of the sacred sword refers to the worship of the king and the royal aencestry, the sacred honor and the great war. From this we see the view on the modernity of the author Tolkien, and his desire to the ideal living environment and political order.The third chapter takes the wizard’as the study object. This paper study the identity of the wizard in the trilogy from the mythology and the history of the wizard. Tolkien shaped the romantic identity of the wizard, which reveals the desire of the human to mysticism; And from the battlr between the white wizard and the grey wizard we can find the attitude about the modenty from Tolkien, and the best wishes to the ideal humanity.The last chapter summarizes the main content and the views of this paper. People who are lost in the modern civilization will get the energy to image through the three images, and fall in the magic world of the Middle-Earth. We will understand the battle of the good and the evil, the power of the dark and the evil, the glory of the old days, the memory of the original and naturel worship, the ideal society order, the great honor, the truth, the dream and more.
