A Study Of Dialect Vocabulary Of Yaodu District Suburbs East Of The River In Linfen City

Chinese dialect is extremely valuable cultural resource. Thedialect vocabulary inherite the unique, rich,and colorful local culture,and at the same time, it also is still alive and has been widely used inpeople’s everyday life. Reflecting the people’s collective wisdom andexperience, it is an art itself. However, we also see with regrets thatthere is a significant reduce in the dialects vocabulary due tomodernization,some dialects have gradually disappeared.Researcheson these dialects have great influence on the preservation of Chinesedialects and culture.Linfen is located in the southern part of Shanxi Province, Yaodudistrict is located in the central part of Linfen, As Fenhe River goesthrough north to south, Yaodu district is divided into East and West .In this paper, the suburb east of the river refers to the east suburbanzone.According to Mr. LiRong to the division of Jin dialects, dialectsfrom Shanxi and Linfen in South Shanxi are not part of Jin dialects asthey have no tone IV, Therefore, dialects from YaoDu area do notbelong to the Jin dialects either. In phonetic features analysis, linfendialect and Jin dialects differ in terms of pronunciation, but they arevery similar in terms of vocabulary and grammar. For example, Yaodudialect share the same features of Jin dialects regarding the prefix "ge", "ri", and duplication of“zi”.This paper has used dialect vocabulary as study object. Itanalyzes the dialect vocabulary in various perspectives to in order tosummarize the characteristics of the Easter suburban dialects. It alsofurther studies how the local culture can be reflected by the localvocabulary. It is written in the hope that the studies will help thepreservation of Chinese culture.This paper aims to take an in-depth investigation on Linfen dialectbased on the extensive collection of relevant information, mainly inthe syn chronic level. Different research methos have been used inthis paper,the use of description and interpretation, the combinationof theoretical and practical and the combination of comparison andanalysisThis article consists of five parts:Part one: Introduction. Yaodu Geography overview, voice systems,and phonological characteristics;Shanxi dialect research and thesource of the corpus of this article.The second part is the main body of the article, mainly expalinsthe vocabulary from the dialect classification and composition.Classification has been studied from the perspectives of thesyllableand morpheme; vocabulary has been investigated fromfromthe compound, additional and overlapping analysis.The third part is the meaning of dialect cluster. It has been studiesin three aspects mainly, which are the semantic field, synonymousfield and antisense justice field.The fourth part is the dialect vocabulary characteristics andcultural connotation.Lexical features is analyzed mainly through internal difference within the dialects and the difference of dialectand Mandarin.Cultural connotation is mainly studied from the diet,name, time, season, taboo words, a homophonic pun, funeral, and soon.The fifth part is the conclusion. The author hopes that the study ofthe dialect vocabulary in Yaodu District suburbs east of the riverwould make a contribution to the study of Shanxi dialects, especiallyit will serve as new materials for study of Zhongyuan Mandarinvocabulary and dialect research in this area.
