The research object of this paper is the teaching of modern poetry, based on theReader-Response Literary Theory. Using this theory which is close to modern poetryontology the purpose is to direct teachers in teaching modern poetry. The reason forthe study is based on the thinking about the current situation of the modern poetryteaching, and the reflection of the present the modern poetry classroom teaching.The introduction of the article simply combs the development process of themodern poetry.By means of this, I can find the current condition of the modern poetryteaching. In late twentieth Century, because of the concussion of market economyspring tide, Generally speaking, the modern poem creation still decline; on the otherhand, the research quantity of modern poetry teaching is so rarely. Many researchabout a separate study on the modern poetry theory, and many separate research onteaching, but there is few books or papers in modern poetry teaching. If things go onlike this, the prospect of modern poem teaching is not optimistic. Therefore, theauthor hopes that I can search modern poetry teaching methods and strategies usingthe Reader-Response Criticism Theory as a tool.The first part of this paper reveals the modern poetry teaching present situationand to explore its internal reasons. The present situation of modern poem teaching isnot very well. Because of vernacular Chinese characteristics of the modern poetrylanguage, it more difficult to be understood by the students . Therefore, in the modernpoetry teaching, many teachers often do not know how to explain these poetry whichlanguage is simple surfaces and profound connotation. From the investigationsituation of the modern poem, I try to reveal the degree of understanding on modernpoetry and the present teaching situation of modern poem teaching, and then analysisthe causes to find a solution to the problem.The second part reveals modern poetry stylistic features and highlights the unique charm of modern poetry.From the "familiarization" language, or low eyebrowor indirect way of expression of their poems, and with full of fantasy imagination, Iwill specifically analysis the modern poetry stylistic features, and reveal the uniqueartistic charm of modern poetry.The third part of this article introduces the Reader- Response Criticism Theory,and finds the significance to the modern poetry teaching. From three mainrepresentative figures of the Reader-Response Criticism Theory, I will understandStanley Fisher’s Feel Stylistics,and experience Jonathan·Card’s“Literary Ability”,and grasp Harold·Bloom’s“Misreading Theory”to find the reader response criticismtheory main idea, guiding teaching modern poems.The fourth part is to put forward modern poetry teaching strategy by the theory.After understanding the modern poetry stylistic characteristics and grasping the readerresponse criticism theory, I will be look for the modern poetry teaching strategies, tomake certain guidance on the classroom teaching.The fifth part is the example of the modern poetry teaching, the author tries toexplain the modern poetry teaching strategies and methods by specific classroomdesign.Throughout this paper, from the theory ,the most prominent significance is toguide students to interpret and understand modern poetry, and to improve students’understanding and appreciation.Meanwhile,I can provide some guidance and help tothe vast number of middle school Chinese teachers’ in teaching the modern poetry.Of course, this paper is not mature enough in theory and practice, I would like toinitiate by this article, hoping to attract more experts, scholars and front-line teachersto do more in-depth study on perceptual Chinese classroom teaching.
