Song Bai（936-1012）,Tai Su or Su Chen ,born in Da Ming (now Hebei).He was animportant politician and writer in early Northern Song Dynasty, and was active during thepeirods of Emperor Taizu, Taizong and Zhenzong . Song Bai was in charge of the civil serviceexaminations three times and was famous for Gong Ci and other poems. His article also hadmany forms. In short ,he had great influence in the political area and the field of literature inearly Northern Song Dynasty.This article is to study Song Bai and his poetry and articles by study Song Bai’s life, socialintercourse, political activities and his literature.This article is composed of introduction and four chapters:The introduction introduces the shortage of the study of Song Bai and his poetry andarticles to show the value of the study of Song Bai. Song Bai had high achievement in literatureand politics.But there are few scholars having studied Song Bai and his literature exclusivelyand carefully.So,it is quite necessary to study Song Bai and his literature. At the same time,thispart also intruduces current study situation of Song Bai .Chapter One analyzes Song Bai’s life, social intercourse, political activities to provide thebackground information to the study of Song Bai’literature. Song Bai was a famous politicianand writer in early Northern Song Dynasty,and he had recommended by many talented person.Song Bai had keen political sense.,He really understood how to be an official and a writer.Chapter Two analyzes the relationship between Song Bai and the literature in earlyNorthern Song Dynasty. The literature in early Northern Song Dynasty mainly followed the FiveDynasties’style. Song Bai’s literature was deeply influenced by the Five Dynasties’style. .Hewas active during in early Northern Song DynastyChapter Three discourse Song Bai’poems.The focus is the content , artistic style andcreativity of one hundred Gong Ci.As a distinctive poetry style,Gong Ci has its own artisticcontent.Song Bai had an important infuluence on the progress of Gong Ci.Song Bai’s otherpoems were influenced by Bai Juyi’poems.Chapter Four analyzes Song Bai’articles.His articles were mainly about argument and were also deeply influenced by the Five Dynasties’style.But Song Bai could not create an new style.
