Speaking is an important aspect of English integrated skills. Oral Englishteaching has also drawn more and more attention, but its effect has been poor. Asidefrom the traditional teacher feedback, many scholars have suggested that we can usepeer feedback in second language teaching. This paper attempts to use the peerfeedback in oral English teaching by means of the characteristics and hypotheses ofdynamic system theory to probe into the influence of peer feedback on Chinesestudents, focusing on the following three questions:(1) Do the students who have received peer feedback perform better than thosewho have not in oral presentation?(2) Does peer feedback enable students to make judgments of their peer’s oralpresentations compared to those made by the teacher?(3) Among these factors such as grammar accuracy, fluency, pronunciation andconfidence, does any one of them have a correlation with language use or manner?Subjects in the study were sophomores from Nanfang Translators’ College ofSISU (Sichuan International Studies University) with a total number of60students,who were divided into experimental and control groups. As for the experimentalgroup, the teacher provided training of peer feedback before the experiment, establishing its criteria for scoring and feedback; the control group remained thetraditional teaching of teacher feedback. The study was divided into pre-test andpost-test. Moreover, qualitative and quantitative method was used to make ananalysis by SPSS13.0.The results show that: first, the students who have received peer feedbackperform better than those who have not in oral presentation. Second, peer feedbackenables students to make judgments of their peer’s oral presentations compared tothose made by the teacher. Third, among these factors such as grammar accuracy, fluency, pronunciation and confidence, the performance of introduction has a high correlation with language use and manner. Therefore, students’ confidence and overall performance should be paid attentionto in the teaching with a positive role to enhance the students’ overall comprehensiveability.
