Mt. Wangwu is located in northwest of Jiyuan, Henan province. Because it is like the king’s house, sowas titled for Wangwu. Mt.Wangwu is located in the central zone of ancient Chinese civilization. It belongsto the capital city and it’s environs in Tang and Song dynasty. It’s a mountain town of northern ancientcapital Luoyang, and the birthplace of Ji Water, which is one of the ancient "four main river". Mt. Wangwuis one of the nine famous mountains of China as early as in5B.C to3B.C. The wellknown story "YugongRemoves the Maintain" just happened here. Mt. Wangwu is a famous mountain of Taoism. As early asTaoism was founded, Mt. Wangwu had been the living place of Taoists and hermits for its advantageousgeographical position and mountain landscape; after Taoism was founded, it became the ideal place wherethe Taoist priests cultivating their morality, raising their gender and being immortal.During Tang and Song dynasties, there are many beautiful sceneries and abundant varieties oflandscapes in Mt. Wangwu area. Natural sceneries like famous mountains, rivers, biology and climateresources. The landscapes of Mt. Wangwu area are not only with high ornamental value, but also with richcultural connotation, attracted many people to visit. The representative water landscape resource is Ji Water.Her noble and pure quality attracted many scholars to sing and praise. There are also Daoist monasteries,Buddhist temples, cottages, etc. The most representative human cultural sceneries of Mt. Wangwu area isit’s Daoist landscape resources. It not only has unique monastic architectures, but also has long-historyTaoist culture. The landscape resources of Mt. Wangwu area are characterized with various varieties,concentrated sceneries, and high value in appreciation.During Tang and Song dynasties, the tourism activity of Mt. Wangwu area is very active because of it’srich tourist resources. The main of them are emperor and royal tourism, literati travel, monks trip, festivaltour of the general public, and so on. The participations are very extensive, up to the imperial class, downto the common people, almost all social stratas, and has the characteristics of mass tourism in some extent.They travel with different sorts of purposes and pursue different value orientations, which greatly enrichedthe tourism of Mt.Wangwu area. Especially, the tourism of scholar left many poems and travel notes, whichbecame precious cultural heritage of Mt. Wangwu area. During Tang and Song dynasties, the convenient traffic and continuous improvement ofaccommodation provided necessary conditions for tourist’s travel. In traffic, there are not only ancient roads,but also new constructed roads. Traffic tools are also enriched continuously. In accommodation, local hotel,peasant house and Daoist monastery and Buddhist monastery are all available for selected. Certainly, thedeveloped feudal economy and relative stable local political and social environment are also the importantbackground of the rich and colorful tourism of Mt. Wangwu area.During Tang and Song dynasties, the extensive tourism activities of Mt. Wangwu area promoted it’stourism development, brought some economic and social benefits to the local, enriched Chinese literaturetreasure, promoted the development of literature and art, expanded reputation of Mt. Wangwu, andenhanced it’s cultural value. Meanwhile, the magnificent mountains in Mt. Wangwu areas also achieved thepeople’s psychological worship.The landscape resources and tourism activities in Tang and Song dynasties have important influence tothe present tourism development of Mt. Wangwu area. During Tang and Song dynasties, the tourismlandscape resources in Mt. Wangwu area are rich and tourist activities are developed, produced profoundsocial influence, and also offered references for today’s tourism resources exploitation and protection.
