The Chinese jewelry art has been developed a lot over thousand years, whichshows its own style and strong Chinese culture impact. In the last few decades,advanced technologies and the developing relationship with western countriesimpacted our way of design and techniques.We’ve been following the fashion trends of the West.At the same time, manyartists have been trying to make Chinese elements international. Traditional Chinesearts, crafts and many other aspects all can be the elements of design. This articlethrough typical Chinese art form to describe and show how Chinese traditionalpainting is used in jewelry design and making.This article contains four major points. First it shows the way of using paintingbrush to draw traditional Chinese painting. The second point is white and black spacethat used in the pictures. Third point is about poetic way of painting. The last pointexplains the Chinese philosophy in painting. The method of contrasting and analyzingof Chinese tradition also influence modern jewelry design and making.The paper contains seven parts. The first part introduced the purpose and thedetermination of this article and used the research of Chinese modern jewelry art asthe beginning. The second part is the history of Chinese jewelry art and characteristicsof jewelries of each period. Especially, the Song Dynasty Jewelry characteristics aredescribed as a point. The third part is comparing the Song Dynasty painting art andJewelry Art, discussing the similarities of the two parts and the influence the Chineseart making to jewelry design.With the basic of the above three parts, the forth part is comparing the Chineseart and jewelry art, trying to find different ways of jewelry design. The fifth part is theshape, color, materials and material of jewelry and examples of jewelries withimpaction of Chinese art. Part six is using above theories to design and makejewelries.The last part of the article is the conclusion, summarizing that we should paymore attention to the influence that Chinese art made to the jewelry design.
