| Discourse reading is a main approach for the overseas student of learning Chinese and also a crucial standard measuring their Chinese level. Improving the overseas students’Chinese discourse reading ability plays an important role in the teaching Chinese as second language. Discourse reading comprehension is a process which gains complete coherent psychology representation through the constructing meaning of written language material. Especially for the second language discourse reading, it is a complicate psychological process, ranging from the retrieval of surface language written information, inference of the semantic information based on the knowledge and the experience the readers have had and the monitoring of the reading process by the readers themselves. The processing depth of each stage will have a great impact on the comprehension of the whole discourse.Chinese L2discourse reading as the research object, this paper explores the psychological process of the information retrieval and anticipative inference, using the schema theory of reading from psychological linguistics construction-integration model and context-relevance theory from pragmatic for reference. Based on the four stages:speech perception, word retrieval, sentence processing and discourse comprehension, this paper analyzes how the Chinese information is retrieved; in what kind of situation, anticipative inference happens;which language and non-language clues involve the inference process and how these clues help us to fill the semantic blanks of the text and so on.In addition, according to the relationship between discourse structure and anticipative inference,the present study comes up with the reading strategies of Chinese discourse and further distinguishes between the decoding sequence and staring sequence, based on the thematization, informativity and cohesive devices from discourse linguistics, and genre and register and so on from functional linguistics. The present study finds that anticipative inference different reading stages activate and the categories of knowledge and information that is need to be retrieved are different and the inference which is caused by different positions in the text also has a different impact on the following text.In the end, this paper analyzes comprehensively all kinds of factors which influence timely production of anticipative inference of Chinese discourse and all kinds of information sources and brings up Chinese discourse reading comprehension models. The present study conclusion is expected to give implication to Chinese discourse reading and can offer macroscopic guidance and specific operative skills to Chinese L2discourse reading teaching. |
