A Brief Discussion Of Traditional Appearance-Capturing Techniques And Creative Imagery Styles In Chinese Figure Paintings

Based on comparative studies between natural form and artistic impression, considering the literature research results, particularly the influence of traditional Chinese philosophical thinking on the art of paintings, this article analyzed masterpieces of traditional Chinese figure paintings, such as "The Evening Banquet of Han Xi", with a focus on special feature creation, artistic approach, and aesthetic pursuit. Also highlighted in this article is the contrast between "realistic sketch" and "realistic reflection" in contemporary Chinese painting, as well as thoughts and practices towards "change" and "novelty." This, in conjunction with the author’s personal artistic experiences, the author reached the conclusion that traditional Chinese figure paintings can be described as "from natural form, yet allowing spontaneity". This is expected to be useful for future teaching and creative practice in the art of Chinese painting.
