Robert Frost, four-time Pulitzer Prize winner, is regarded as one of the greatestAmerican poets in the20th century. The majority of studies and research on Frost’sworks have been focused on subjects such as nature, death and darkness, writing style,and analyses from specific perspectives such as feminism perspective and ecologicalperspective etc., with scant attention to the importance of farming in his work.However, images and thoughts related to farming are quite distinctive in Robert Frost’poetry. This research, therefore, analyzes Robert Frost’s poems with typical farmingimages, drawing on studies on Robert Frost. The thesis shows that Frost was a strongcritic of modern mechanized farming, attacked modern farming for its impact on theenvironment, on interpersonal relationship, and praised traditional family farming.Frost’s thoughts on farming can inspire people of today to reflect on the cost ofindustrialization.
