| With the growing improvement of social communication network and theincreasing expansion of enterprise operation and modern market, it will be inevitablefor any company to confront a crisis event that may occur at any moment, which isbound to cause a negative impact on the company’s reputation and public image.There are many rehabilitation works to be made after crises, therefore, such as issuingcompany statements at the first time in the face of crisis public relations in order tomake clarification, show attitudes, and reassure the public, thus reducing damagescaused by crises and restoring the good corporate image. Consequently, companystatements in CPR play an important role in business development.Genre analysis, a hot topic in linguistics, has become increasingly popular andpowerful during the recent years. Many researches on genre analysis have been madein ESP and academic fields. There have been few researches, however, concerning thesystematic analysis of such professional business genres as company statements inCPR. In this paper, therefore, the combination between genre analysis and companystatements in CPR will be a new attempt.This paper chooses company statements in CPR as the research subject andapplies the analytical framework of integrating Swales’, Bhatia’s and Hasan’s modelsto examine the move structural patterns and generic structure potential of this kind ofspecial genre. It is hoped that the present study could serve as a guide for providinguseful information about how to compose an effective statement in CPR, pave the wayfor the better understanding in business communication, and make contribution to ESPteaching and other types of professional and practical writings. |
