Mojiang County is the only Hani Autonomous County in China. Before thetwentieth century, the Hani of Mojiang County, Yunnan Province believe in their ownGod—Long. Later, with the introduction of Christianity, part of the Hani people,especially Biyue branches converted to Christianity. Christianity was first introducedto the Hani in Mojiang County in1920s, then after the founding of New China in1949, Christianity was quickly spread in the minority areas of Mojiang county,especially the Hani, and the number of Hani believers increased rapidly. During thisperiod of Christianity spread in Mojiang County, it had a great influence in the socialdevelopment of the Hani, and even influence the development of the Hani later on.With Alaba Village, Longba Town, Mojiang County as a case study, this paperdiscusses the social influence of Christianity based on the actual fieldwork andin-depth interviews. With participant observation as a basis and problem research asthe framework, the social influence is conducted mainly from daily life and ideologyof the villagers, ranging from the economic life, culture and education, medical andhealth care, mind openness and attitude to new things. Furthermore, this paperattempts to discuss the relations between Christianity development and the Hanidevelopment through analyzing their social and cultural conflict and integration.
