Tentative Research On The Space Arts Of Jiaxiang Pictorial Stones

This paper takes the space artistic expression of pictorial stones of Han Dynasty in Jiaxiang County as its research object, and refines and summarizes the laws and expression skills of deep space hidden in the visual images of the pictorial stones. The study of space artistic expression of pictorial stones in its macroscopic aspects, that is, its modeling design, classification and distributions is of equal significance to the study in its microscopic aspects, namely, costumes, musical instruments, customs and diets. The study can make people more familiar with the traditional culture and further enrich the artistic research findings of pictorial stones in Jiaxiang, i.e. digging the aesthetic value of a deeper layer in stone carving.This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is introduction, briefing why such a study is conducted, analyzing and reflecting the current situation of study on similar topics, and illustrating the research perspectives and values of this paper. The second part tells the background of pictorial stones in Jiaxiang, including the importance of geographical position and stone producing areas and subjective conditions like the funeral tradition which is influenced by economic foundation and political culture. The third part is the artistic characteristics of pictorial stones in Jiaxiang, giving a summarization of differences between pictorial stones in Jianxiang and those in Henan, Shanxi and Sichuan in the aspects of arts character, etc. Part four is the emphasis of the paper, where Jiaxiang pictorial stones of Han Dynasty are compared to those of previous dynasty to show that Han pictorial stones did make some contributions and progresses in painting expressions; and by comparing the photos of different dynasties, a summarization of the space artistic expressions of Jiaxiang pictorial stones is given. The final part is conclusion, summing up the influences of Jiaxiang pictorial stones on the following generations of scholars and painters, as well as the significance the pictorial stones themselves and their influences on the times and following generations. the explorations and achievements of Jiaxiang pictorial stones in space artistic expressions.
