Task-based Language Teaching Methodology is an influential languageteaching theory, and it has been introduced to domestic foreign language teaching inthe early twenty-first century, and then has been adopted in teaching Chinese as aforeign language. Abundant theories and practical achievements have proved thatTask-based Language Teaching pursues authentic use of language and stimulation ofstudentā€™s learning motivation to the largest amount, which are considered as the idealconditions of language learning. On the basis of summing up domestic and overseastheories, this thesis integrates Task-based Language Teaching with spoken languageteaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language according to the characteristicsand principles of task-based language teaching. Through questionnaire, interview andnote-taking, This thesis will make a tentative exploration in spoken Chinese teachingmode by means of quantitative and qualitative analysis.There are five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter is the introduction ofbackground and value of the study, and a summary of current situation of task-basedlanguage teaching. The second chapter is the elaboration of concept of task andtask-based language teaching methodology. The third chapter is the explicitexplanation of content and principle of spoken language teaching in teaching Chineseas a second language, and the combination of task-based language teaching andteaching Chinese as a second language. The fourth chapter is the key point of thethesis. According to the characteristics and principles of task-based language teaching,it implements task-based language teaching in the spoken language class and makessurvey of the topics that students interest in and problems in designing task. The lastchapter concludes the enlightment of adopting task-based language teaching in spokenChinese teaching, limitations of this thesis and prospect of task-based languageteaching. The case and conclusion will be helpful to spoken Chinese teaching.
