Panhu myth is the creation on the basis of dog totem belief. Panhu, a special dogbecause of killing the enemy become a hero, and married with Xinnv as the AncestorGod. Panhu myth is widely spread in the southern minority nationalities. Panhu faith isparticularly significant, associated with the folk customs too numerous to mention inMiao nationality and Yao nationality. People’s daily lives have been impact of Panhufaith, such as dress, marriage customs, funeral customs. With the method ofcomparison, the paper Study from the motif, the godhead, as well as related folkcustoms, to explore the similarities and differences of panhu belief between Miao andYao nationality. Their homologous relationship are recounted, the reason of theirdifferent panhu faith is analysed.The paper consists of the following three parts:Part one is an introduction, in which the research content, methods, significanceand innovation are introduced.So are the relevant kinds of myths. In addition, theprevious research findings related to the Panhu myths are introduced.Part two is the main body, in which the Panhu belief is studied and dicussed frommultiple sides and different angles.This part is made up of four chapters.Chapter Onerecounts the homologous history between Miao and Yao nationality, and explor thecauses of Panhu faith. Following this procedure, Chapter Two shows the similarities ofpanhu faith, from the myths of the motif, cultural connotation as well as the beliefcustom of clothing, marriage, funeral. Chapter Three goes to the comparison of Panhufaith. The differences include the sacrifice ceremony, the Godhead evolution, PanhuTemple distribution and ritual objects, which are brought into comparison. On the basisof comparison a conclusion is achieved that the relationship of panhu faith ischaracterized by “Each depends on one another” between Miao and Yao nationality.Chapter Four, juding from these, talks about the reason which cause the differencesbetween them, And point out that different residential distribution, diversification oftheir own belief the influence of foreign culture and other factors have a major impacton the heritage of faith Panhu. In the final part of conclusion, the whole paper is summarized. The Panhu faithbecome the spiritual culture of the Miao and Yao ethnic core, and a symbol of thedifference between other ethnic groups. Panhu culture is widespread in the Miao-Yao,affecting people’s lives. It has a historical value, cultural value, and artistic value.According to the requirements of the intangible cultural heritage protection of theunique cultural heritage, draw the conclusion to protect the diversity Panhu faith.
