China is a country with family as basic living units since the ancient times. Family or clanas the main place for personal growth and living, plays a very important role in the hearts ofpeople. In the course of the journey, the immigrants who have dream but leave their homelandface a difficult choice between the old home in their hometown and the new home on the foreignland, they fall into a dilemma. By reading the novel, we can see that the family problem betweenthe old home and new home is the highlights of the novel. In the novel, there are couples who areseparated from each other so that they can only miss each other across the sea; there are tragicmarriage with derailment and death; there are distinctive love of parents; there are also love-haterelationship between sisters. Taking these family relationships as the breakthrough point, ZhangLing described the course how the immigrants leave their home and look for new home underthe dual cultural background. These representative family relations enrich the novelā€™s literaryexpressive force, and show the multiple identity appeal and cultural identity of immigrants whenthey walk between the new home and old home.This paper takes these family ethics relationships in Zhang Lingā€™s novel as the researchpoint. Try to understand how Zhang Ling inherit and exceed the eastern and western cultures inhis family ethics novel, demonstrate the pursuit of spirit and culture behind the novel, and alsoconfirm the novelā€™s achievements and value by analyzing gender relations, intergenerationalfriendship and brotherhood these three representative family relationships.
