During the Wei and Jin dynasties, the degeneration of Confucianism and the rise of metaphysics were attended by the turbulent and dark political situation and the complex changes of social trend of thought. As one of the celebrities of Zheng Shi period and the leader of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove, Ruan Ji was affected inevitably by the metaphysics which was popular at that time, however, he still had deep affections for Confucianism in his mind. He was the soul of discretion, especially his concern of disaster in his poems. From that point, the thesis discussed Ruan Ji and the origin of the characteristics of the poem of Yong Huai with adversity consciousness and thinking of cautious sayings of Confucianism.This thesis concerned prologue, text and epilogue. The prologue dwelled on combing Ruan Ji, the research situation and shortcomings of the Poem of Yong Huai and the method of writing of the thesis. The main body was divided into four chapters. The first chapter, which was knowing a person’s background in order to commenting on him, started with the background of Ruan Ji’s age and divided into two parts to analyze. One was the dangerous political environment during the Wei and Jin dynasties. The other was the complex trends of social thought that was the changes of Confucianism and the rise of metaphysics. In the second chapter, combining with Ruan Ji and his poem of Yong Huai, it began with the adversity consciousness of Confucianism to discuss the influence of adversity consciousness to the two of Ruan Ji and the Poem of Yong Huai. The third chapterwhich used the thinking of cautious sayings of Confucianism as a focal point expounded the origin of the characteristics of Ruan Ji’s cautious sayings and the hardness of enjoyment of returning the nature of the Poem of Yong Huai.The fourth chapter was the introduction of the influence of the view of disaster and cautious sayings of Confucianism to the position of Ruan Ji’s poem of Yong Huai.The last part made a conclusion and explained the effects of the view of adversity and cautious sayings of Confucianism to the position of Ruan Ji’s poem of Yong Huai.
