Objective: To study the expression of DKK1, Survivin in thymoma andto explore the correlation between the expression of the factors and thethymoma status, including the development of thymoma, pathological types, and clinical stage and MG combine. Methods: Surgically resected and pathologically proved cases of thymichyperplasia, thymoma and thymic carcinoma were collected. All the patientsreceived neither radiotherapy nor chemotherapy before the surgery.Histological type, clinical stage and whether combined with MG in patientswith thymoma. Thymus hyperplasia in14cases,61cases of thymoma(noninvasive33cases,28cases of invasive), and17cases of thymiccarcinoma resection specimens of routinely paraffin-embedded tissues werecollected. The expression of DKK1and Survivin were detected byimmunohistochemistry SP method. All the results were statistically analyzedwith SPSS13.0software package.Result:1The positive rates of DKK1protein was gradually decreased in thymichyperplasia, thymoma and thymic carcinoma were71.4%,45.9%and23.5%,and there was statistical difference among the three groups (P<0.05); Thepositive rates of DKK1were60.6%in tissues of noninvasive thymoma(A+AB), which were significantly higher than the rates of20.6%in invasivethymoma (P<0.05); The positive rates of DKK1protein was graduallydecreased in Masaoka clinical stage Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ were62.5%,60.0%,21.4%and12.5%, and there was statistical difference among the four groups(P<0.05); The positive rates of DKK1were47.5%in tissues of thymoma withMG,42.9%in tissues of thymoma without MG, there were no statisticaldifference between the two groups (P>0.05). 2The positive rates of Survivin protein was gradually increased inthymic hyperplasia, thymoma and thymic carcinoma were14.3%,55.7%and76.5%, and there was statistical difference among the three groups (P<0.05);The positive rates of Survivin were42.4%in tissues of noninvasive thymoma(A+AB), which were significantly lower than the rates of71.4%in invasivethymoma (P<0.05); The positive rates of Survivin protein was graduallydecreased in Masaoka clinical stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳwere37.5%,46.7%,78.6%and87.5%,and there was statistical difference among the four groups(P<0.05); The positive rates of Survivin were50.0%in tissues of thymomawith MG,66.7%in tissues of thymoma without MG, there were no statisticaldifference between the two groups (P>0.05).3There was a significant negative correlation between the positive ratesof DKK1and Survivin in thymoma.Conclusion:1There was abnormal expressions of DKK1and Survivin in thymoma, associated with the occurrence and development of it, detecting theexpressions of the factors will be helpful in the diagnosis of thymoma andthymic carcinoma.2The expressions of DKK1and Survivin were correlated with WHOclassification and Masaoka stage; it weren’t correlated with whether combinedwith MG. Detecting the expressions of DKK1and Survivin protein can behelpful in judging the malignant degree.3It shows the expressions of DKK1and Survivin in thymoma have theantagonism in the occurrence and development.Unite examining theexpressions of DKK1and Survivin can be helpful in evaluating the biologicalbehavior of thymoma.
