Water treatment is one of the most widely used technology of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation, and it also is the inevitable part of medicinal materials s production and processing can’t leave. Water treatment will lead to a huge loss of active ingredients. This paper in order to safflower, cortex phellodendri, betelnut, monkshood, licorice as a representative, use hypertonic/isotonic solution with higher osmotic pressure instead of water, determine the chroma and the loss of active ingredients in leaching liquid, analyse the influence of the high/isotonic solution to the loss of active ingredients, in order to establish a new method of water treatment, discusses its feasibility, find the isotonic point of medicinal materials.Soak5kinds of TCM for30min at25℃by using0,5,10,15,20,25%sodium chloride solution and0,10,20,30,40,50%sucrose solution respectively, the results are as follows:[1] chroma:along with the increase of concentration, leaching liquid chroma gradually decreases, and reduce the rate of up to70.22%~94.46%;[2] loss of active ingredients:along with the increase of concentration,the loss of hydroxyl safflor yellow A in safflower redused from32.8300mg to4.9850mg, the loss of berberine hydrochloride in cortex phellodendri redused from29.5900mg to7.6725mg, the loss of arecoline in betelnut redused from35.8700mg to7.0750mg, the loss of aconitine in monkshood redused from25.1300mg to4.9900mg, the loss of glycyrrhizic acid in licorice redused from60.5500mg to8.6950mg;[3] effect comparison:when the mass fraction of sodium chloride and sucrose are the same, compared with sucrose, the chroma and loss of active ingredients are smaller by using sodium chloride for water treatment, it shows that use sodium chloride to reduse the loss of active ingredients,its dosage is less and effect is better;[4] isotonic point: according to the experimental results, isotonic point may be in the range of5%~15%sodium chloride and10%~30%sucrose.To sum up, high/isotonic solution (sodium chloride/sucrose) within the certain concentration range can reduce the loss of active ingredients of TCM in water treatment process, and the greater the concentration, the less loss of active ingredients, it shows that ues high/isotonic solution (sodium chloride/sucrose) to reduce the loss of TCM active ingredients in the process of water treatment is feasible,but search for isotonic point and impact on efficacy by using sodium chloride/sucrose still need further study.
