[Background information and Objective] Cataract is one of the worldwide major blindness-causing eye diseases. And phacoemulsification is the main treatment method. Meanwhile PCO is the most common complication. Generally Recognizing, the migration of Surrounding cells to the posterior capsular center has close relationship with PCO. Based on the above theory, to reduce the rate of PCO, IOL often has a anterior degree angle. This devise can increase the contact area between IOL and posterior capsular and prevent the migration of E type cell, and reduce the rate of PCO. With the development of IOL, The FLEX IOL which has a posterior degree angle let everybody know. But its Design concept is different from others, this IOL reduces the contact area. The purpose of this study is to analyse the influence of posterior angle intraocular lenses (IOL) on posterior capsular opacification(PCO) after phacoemulsification.[methods] It is a forward-looking research. All the subjects came from the Jinan central hospital affiliated to Shandong University.211eyes with age-related cataract which had received phacoemulsification. were divided into three groups according to the kinds of IOL:the SKY group used anterior10degree angle IOL; the AO group used tilted zero angle IOL; and the FLEX group used posterior5degree angle IOL. PCO was observed at one month, three months and six months after surgery.[Results] we could see varying PCO at the first, third and the sixth month after phacoemulsification from thease three groups. The rate of PCO in SKY group was 6.6%、9.8%、11.5%respectively.It was3.5%、8.2%、9.4%respectively in AO group. And4.6%、6.2%、7.7%in FLEX group. Moreover, there was no statistical difference from the groups.[Conclusion] The rate of PCO after phacoemulsification with posterior degree angle IOL was lower than others, but there was no statistical differences.
