Objective:Clinically, it was widely recognized that kallikrein can be applicated tocure the acute cerebral infarction. From the point of view of angiogenesis, toexplore the effect of human urinary kallikrein on the level of VEGF in theacute phase of cerebral infarction. Methods:Randomly selected from ones within48hours of onset,69cases withcerebral infarction confirmed by the cranial CT or MRI were randomly dividedinto human urinary kallikrein group and control group.Plasma VEGFconcentration were determined by using a quantitative ELISA technique ingroups at the two time points of2d and10d after the treatment. Results:After the treatment the plasma VEGF concentration improved in bothgroups (P<0.05).The concentration of VEGF in the human urinary kallikreingroup was higher that of control group at the time point of10d(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. Human urinary kallikrein can promote the level of VEGF in the acutephrase of cerebral infarction.2. Vascular endothelial growth factor level of thepatients with cerebral infarction gets increased in the acute phase.3. Theclinical evidence for the treatment of human urinary kallikrein in the acutephrase of cerebral infarction was provided.
