Objectives:To study the expression and sense of p21WAF-1and p27in gastrointestional stromal tumors. To compare the expression of p21WAF-1,p27and clinicopathological factors of two group of patients with gastrointestional stromal tumors or without, and the relationship between the expression of p21WAf-1and p27, and then provide information for diagnosis and prognosis.Methods:Immunohistochemistry were used to investigate the expression of p21WAF-1, p27in the specimens of gastrointestinal stromal tumor. To anslysis the relationship of the expression of p21WAF-1, p27and age, gender, cite, size, mitosis, cell type, necrosis, NIH risk. Using SAS9.2software for statistical analysis, the single factor analysis was chi-squer, the multifactor analysis was Logistic regression.Results:The gastrointestional stromal tumors group and without group with different gender, age were not significantly different(p>0.05). But the expression of p21WAF-1in two group were significantly different (P=0.000), the expression of p21WAF-1in the gastrointestional stromal tumors group was lower than the without group, the expression of p27in two group were significantly different (P=0.000), the expression of p27in the gastrointestional stromal tumors group was lower than the without group. The results of single factor was that the expression of p21WAF-1had no correlation with age, gender and tumor cite (P>0.05), the expression of p21WAF-1had correlation of tumor size, cell type, necrosis and mitosis (P<0.05). The results of multi-factor was that the expression of p21WAF-1had correlation of tumor size, necrosis and cell type. The results of single factor was that the expression of p27had no correlation with age, gender, tumor cite and cell type (P>0.05). the expression of p27had correlation of tumor size, necrosis and mitosis (P<0.05). The results of multi-factor was that the expression of p27had correlation of tumor size. The expression of p21WAF-1and p27in different degree risk were statistically significant. The expression of p21WAF-1had a positive correlation with the expression of p27. The correlation coefficient is0.436.Conclusions:The expression of p21WAF-1and p27in the group of gastrointestinal stromal tumors were more lowe. The expression of p21WAF-1had a positive correlation with the expression of p27. The expression of p21WAF-1had relationship with tumor size, cell type and necrosis, The expression of p21WAF-1had relationship with tumor size. The expression of p21WAF-1and p27may be helpful in prognostic indicators in gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
