Objective: to analyse the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of deep neckinfection, and provide a standard procedure for the treatment. Methods: We collected45cases which were diagnosed of deep neckinfection between2007and2012at the first affiliated hospital of Jilin university.Every patient’s gender, age, duration of disease, number of operations wasrecorded, all patients were given fasting blood glucose and CT examination, operating treatment, germiculture, antibiotics and supportive therapy. Results: In45patients,15cases(31.3%) were related to odontogenicinfection,10cases (20.8%) were related to tonsillitis and6cases (12.5%) wererelated to congenital neck cyst infection. The results of bacteria culture of30cases was positive,11cases were infected by Klebsiella pneumoniae,13caseswere infected by the Streptococcus viridans infection.17cases were infected byAnaerobic bacteria infection,13cases were mixed infection. of those,4caseswere mixed with Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria,8cases were mixed withStreptococcus viridans,1case was mixed with other bacteria. According to CTresults, we compared the duration of disease and rate of multiple surgeries indiferrent period, disease duration of patients is no significant difference, numberof operations is different.Conclusion1. the primary cause of DNI is odontogenic infection, and main pathogenicbacteria are mixed infection of Streptococcus viridans and Anaerobic bacteria.2. it’s important to master the timing of surgery. The operation can notshorten the duration and may increase the possibility of reoperation when theabscess was not completely formed. 3. the diseases of patients with diabetes are more complicated, we shouldpay attention to the therapy of the cormorbidities at the same time of antibiotictreatment...
