The Anatomy Research Of The Ditsal Tibofibular Syndesmotic Ligament, The Bassett’s Ligament And The Posterior Intermalleolar Ligament

Objective:The purpose of this study is to identify a comprehensive review of the anatomyresearch of the tibiofibular syndesmosis ligament, the Bassettˊs ligament and theposterior intermalleolar ligament throuth dissected specimens, to describe the preciseanatomical features of these ligaments.and to discuss the physiological function andclinical significanceMaterials and Methods:The study was perfoming on10ankle joints of frozen-fresh specimens,Thetibiofibular syndesmosis ligament, the Bassettˊs ligament and the posteriorintermalleolar ligament were carefully dissected. The precise location oforigin,insertion points, process coruse and the relationships to each others werecarefully observed，the precise anatomical parameters（their length,width andthickness）were also recorded, we also studied the anatomy and functions of theseligaments.Results:1.In10cases, The anterior tibiofibular ligament consists of three parts. They areseparated by gaps approximately2mm wide. The average length of upper part is7.04±0.42，width4.14±0.30, thickness2.52±0.18(mm)，and length13.89±0.66，width7.79±0.85， thickness3.49±0.13(mm)(the middle part),length18.08±0.63,width3.84±0.03thickness2.10±0.05(mm)(the lower part)2.Theposterior tibiofibular ligament is a single band, The length of the upper margin of theligament is approximately11.67±3.85mm, that of the lower margin is21.34±4.20mm.the thickness is17.17±1.71mm.3.the Bassettˊs ligament is present in8of10ankles,the length, width, thickness of which is(mm)18.30±0.21、3.56±0.22.1.01±0.35.4.the posterior intermalleolar ligament is present in6of10ankles,the length, width, thickness of which is(mm)35.77±2.02、5.28±1.85、3.55±0.67(mm)Conclusions:Occording to the study,we have found the consists of the tibiofibularsyndesmosis ligament,and also the presice anatomical parameters of each band. Theprecise location of origin,insertion points, process coruse and the relationships toeach others were carefully described.To prove anatomic basis for treantment of injuryof the the tibiofibular syndesmosis ligament and the tibiofibular syndesmosisdiastasis.We have proved the existence of the Bassettˊs ligament found by foreingers. Itsorientation was parallel and distal to theanterior tibiofibular ligament, proved themachinism of the Bassettˊs ligament as a cause of tibiotalar impingement syndromeby the simulated mechanism of injury of the liagament.We have measure the anatomical parameters of the posterior intermalleolarligament carefully and also discribed the anatomy features of the ligament, proved therole of which in the development of posterior impingement syndrome.
