Objective:To evaluate the application of multi-slice spiral CTurography (MSCTU) in the diagnosis of ureteral diseases.Methods:From January2011to December2012,86patients withureteral diseases were examined by Ultrasound (US), Intraveniousurography (IVU) and MSCTU in the second hospital of Jilin University.All patients were performed by MSCTU examination with four phasescannings, including: plain scan, cortical phase, parenchymal phase andexcretory phase, and the volume data were transferred to thepost-processing workstation for image reconstruction.①Comparing thelocalization diagnosis and qualitative diagnosis coincidence rate of threemethods (US, IVU and MSCTU) in diagnosis of ureteral diseases, all theresults were compared with operation and pathology or clinical treatmentresults, to assess the value of MSCTU in the diagnosis of ureteral diseases.②Analysizing the pure axial image of CTU four phase scanning and theimage of axial images combined with reconstruction image, compared thelocalization diagnosis and qualitative diagnosis coincidence rate of twokinds of observation methods, and compared with operation and pathologyor clinical treatment results, to further assess the value of MSCTU imagereconstruction technique in the diagnosis of ureteral diseases.Results:①The location diagnosis coincidence rate of US, IVU andMSCTU in ureteral disease were46.5%,79.1%,98.8%, respectively, thedifferences was statistically significant (χ~2=63.713,P<0.05); Thequalitative diagnosis rate were43.0%,59.3%,95.3%, respectively, the differences was statistically significant (χ~2=54.877,P<0.05).The locationand qualitative diagnosis rate of MSCTU was significantly higher than USand IVU.②The location diagnosis rate of axial image and axial imagecombined with reconstructed image were89.5%and98.8%respectively,the difference was statistically significant (χ~2=6.795,P<0.05), qualitativediagnosis rate were83.7%and95.3%respectively, the difference wasstatistically significant (χ~2=6.205,P<0.05).Conclusion:①MSCTU is a vital method to diagnose the ureteraldiseases and is better than US and IVU.②MSCTU technique can clearly,intuitively, three-dimensional reveal morphology and location of ureteraldiseases with multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), curved planarreconstruction (CPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), volumerendering (VR), reconstruction image provides complementaryinformation for image, axial image combined with reconstruction imagecan improve the accuracy diagnosis rate in ureteral diseases.
