There are six chapters in this Master Thesis. They are about studies on chemicalconstitutens of Cycas revoluta Thunb., extraction process of gentiopicroside from theaerial parts of Gentiana rigescens Franch., the modification of gentiopicroside, thequality standard (physicochemical portion) of two medicinal herbs from YunnanProvince and review on chemical constituents and toxicity of Cycas L.,pharmacokinetics, biotransformation and modification of gentiopicroside.Chapter1Studies on Chemical Constitutens of Cycas revolutaThunb.Cycas revoluta Thunb. can be used as medicine, food and ornamental plant inYunnna Province from family Cycadaceae, genus Cycas L.. The investigation of thethree different parts of Cycas revoluta Thunb. led to the isolation of13compounds asfollows: β-Sitosterol-palmitate (1), β-Monostearin (2), Nonacosyl alcohol-15(3),β-Monoolein (4), n-Hexadecanol (5), Pseudo taraxasterol (6), Palmitic acid (7),β-Sitosterol (8), Amentoflavone (9), Cordifoliol (10), Pinoresinol (11) Butan-2-one-3-O-β-rutinoside (12), Hydrangeifolin I (13). Among them, compound12was new one;compounds1~6,10,13were isolated from this plant for the first time.Chapter2Studies on Extraction Process of Gentiopicroside from theAerial Parts of Gentiana rigescens Franch.Gentiana rigescens Franch., in which gentiopicroside is the main activityconstituten, is a famous traditional Chinese medicine material in Yunnan Province. While the aerial parts of G. rigescens were wasted which also containedgentiopicroside. In this chapter the extraction process of Gentiopicroside from the aerial parts of G. rigescens is researched. It comes to the conclusion about the ways ofextraction. The research of the extraction process of gentiopicroside from the aerialparts of G. rigescens is significant for applying the whole G. rigescens.Chapter3Studies on the Modification of GentiopicrosideGentiopicroside has activities of protecting liver and gallbladder, but themetabolism is fast in vivo and it can not keep the effective plasma concentration. Inchapter3,5derivatives were synthesized as follows: Gentiopicroside tetraacetate (1),Gentianine (2), Gentianal (3), Pyran-3-carboxylic acid,5-ethyltetrahydro-4-(2-hydr-oxyethyl)-6-methoxy-, δ-lactone (4), Swertiamarin tetraacetate (5).Chapter4Studies on the Quality Standard (Physicochemical Portion)of Two Medicinal Herbs from Yunnan ProvinceIn this chapter, the quality standards (physicochemical portion) of four medicinalherbs were studied. They were Fructus Micheliae Hedyosperma, Folium PanaxNotoginseng, Folium Alstoniae Scholaris and Rhizoma Arisaematis Yunnanensis.Refering to the appendix of Pharmacopoeia of People’s Republic of China (2010Edition), the total extract content, moisture content, ash content, heavy metal contentwere determined. Based on the studies, the conditions of TLC analysis have beenensured.Chapter5Review on Chemical Constituents and Toxicity of Cycas L.There are about90species from genus Cycas in the world and20species in China. The compounds from Cycas were composed of biflavones, azoxyglycosides, phenylpropanoids, non-protein amino acids, sterols, and so on. Moreover, the plantsmainly possess neurotoxicity, liver toxicity and kidney toxicity.Chapter6Review on Pharmacokinetics, Biotransformation andModification of GentiopicrosideGentiopicroside has activities of protecting liver and gallbladder, anti-inflammatory,analgesia. While the metabolism is fast in vivo and it can not keep the effective plasma concentration. The products of biotransformation are Erythrocentaurin, Gentiopicral,Gentianine, Gentianal and so on. The products of modification are Gentiopicrosidetetraacetate, Gentianine, Gentianidine, Gentianal, Gentioflavine, and so on.
