Background With the impact of Evidence-based Medicine on global healthcare, the Evidence-based Nursing Practice had been developed dramatically all over the world. Many international organizations and institutes which related to Evidence-based Nursing Practice had set up their websites or database, enjoying advantage of rich content, efficiency and convenience. At the same time, these online resources have several disadvantages that could not been ignored, eg. dispersion of related information, uneven quality of information, insufficient learning material and language obstacles. The Chinese Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform should be instructed. Objective Based on the JBI model of evidence-based healthcare, this study aimed at analyzing the status quo of national and international evidence-based nursing online information, investigating the utilization status and needs of clinical nurses, nursing teachers, nursing students towards the evidence-based nursing online information, setting up the Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform, evaluating the effects of utilization of this platform in "Evidence-based Nursing" class, building the Database of Simplified Chinese Interventional Nursing Studies Extraction based on the utilization effects, and reevaluating the effects of the expanded platform. Methods Based on the JBI model of evidence-based healthcare, content analysis were conducted to explore the status quo of national and international evidence-based nursing online information. Investigation were carried out to find out the utilization and needs of clinical nurses, nursing teachers, nursing students towards the evidence-based nursing online information. Based on the previous results, the Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform were instructed, and its effects were evaluated through pre-post self-controlled quasi-experimental study in the "Evidence-based Nursing" class. According to the evaluation effects, all the simplified Chinese interventional nursing studies were searched, critically appraised and screened, based on the CASP of Oxford Center of Evidence-based Medicine and JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Randomised and Pseudo-randomised studies, then the Database of Simplified Chinese Interventional Nursing Studies Extraction were built. At last the utilization of expanded platform was reevaluated through pre-post self-controlled quasi-experimental study.Results1. Status quo of national and international evidence-based nursing online information were investigated through content analysis, which showed that current evidence-based nursing online information developed dramatically, characterized by huge quantities and diverse categories, immediate updates and rapid changes, multimedia, connection and convenience. At the same time, current evidence-based nursing online information demonstrated several disadvantages, eg. dispersion of related information, uneven quality of information, insufficient learning material and language obstacles. These problems revealed the necessity of instruction of Chinese Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform.2. An wide investigation were conducted in353clinical nurses,26nursing teachers,142nursing students, which revealed that the awareness of clinical nurses about Evidence-based Nursing were relatively high, however, compared to the nursing teachers and nursing students, their utilization of evidence-based nursing online information were relatively low. Most of the clinical nurses, nursing students and nursing teachers considered the current information to be flawed, such as deficiency of online communication, limit of information copyright, language obstacles, searching ability of themselves, dissatisfaction of network technology. At the same time, most of the interviewee considered it is necessary to develop the Chinese Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform.3. Based on the previous results and JBI model of evidence-based healthcare, the platform instruction team developed the Chinese Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform through repeated discussions. A pre-post self-controlled quasi-experimental study was conducted in80students of "Evidence-based Nursing" class in Fudan University School of Nursing. The well-developed platform was introduced, and all the students were instructed to login the platform to fulfill the course work. In the3months of platform utilization, the students’ Evidence-based Nursing Online Information Satisfaction increased significantly (P<0.01), and their Evidence-based Nursing Knowledge showed no significantly increase (P>0.05). During the interview process, students held that this information platform has shown a lot of advantage, including for course, for practice, and communication platform; meanwhile, this information platform has several places to improve, such as the diversity of information, the abundance of topics, and activity of forum.4. Based on the evaluation effects of the information platform,40,162journal articles and1,338thesis and dissertations were searched from CBM, Wanfang database and CNKI according to the searching strategies in Cochrane handbook. Finally high-quality1,401journal articles and159thesis and dissertations were included after critical appraisal and screening on the basis of CASP of Oxford Center of Evidence-based Medicine and JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Randomised and Pseudo-randomised studies. In the critical appraisal of included studies, criteria with low standard rate included blindness, description of sample loss, comparability of basic information and randomization. At last all the important information and data of high-quality interventional studies were integrated, and Database of Simplified Chinese Interventional Nursing Studies Extraction was built, and merged into Chinese Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform.5. A pre-post self-controlled quasi-experimental study was conducted in79students of "Evidence-based Nursing" class in Fudan University School of Nursing. The expanded Chinese Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform were introduced during the class, propagated it through leaflets. All the students were organized and instructed to login and use the platform. In the3months of platform utilization, the Evidence-based Nursing Knowledge and Evidence-based Nursing Online Information Satisfaction of students increased significantly (P<0.01), the evaluation of its practicality and convenience were relatively high.Conclusion1. Current Evidence-based Nursing Online Information was the effective information resource for searching data or practice evidence-based nursing, showing huge quantities, diverse modality, immediate update and convenient gain. At the same time, its disadvantage should be emphasized, such as dispersion of related information, uneven quality of information, insufficient learning material and language obstacles.2. Compared to nursing students and nursing teachers, the utilization rate of clinical nurses towards evidence-based nursing was relatively low, with different information needs. They all consider it necessary to build the Chinese Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform.3. As supplementary resources with special topic, the Chinese Evidence-based Nursing Network Information Resources Platform could increase significantly Evidence-based Nursing Online Information Satisfaction. However, the platform should be improved with respect to diversity of resources and comprehensiveness of topics.4. The methodological quality and reporting details of Chinese interventional nursing studies should be improved.5. Compared to the previous platform, the expanded platform showed better effects with respect to diversity of resources and comprehensiveness of topics.
