ObjectiveTo detect the expression of CtIP protein and mRNA levels in hepatocellularcarcinoma(HCC) tissues and matched para-carcinomatous liver tissues, and investigate therelationship between CtIP expression and the clinical features of HCC.MethodsThe expression of CtIP protein was detected in hepatocellular carcinoma and theircorresponding para-carcinomatous liver tissues (n=60) at protein level and at mRNA levelby using immunohistochemical staining and western-blot and by using real-time PCRrespectively. Then, the relationship between expression difference of CtIP andclinicopathological significance was analyzed.ResultsImmunohistochemical staining for CtIP protein was found positively in63.3%ofhepatocellular carcinoma tissues and in25.0%of their matched para-carcinomatous livertissues with the difference being significant statistically(p﹤0.05). Western-blot showed thesame result as that by immunohistochemical. The expression level of CtIP mRNA in hepatic carcinoma tissues was higher than that in the matched paracarcinomatoustissues(p<0.05).What’s more, the expression of CtIP was closely correlated with thecomplete involucrum and lymphoid metastasis.ConclusionOverexpression of CtIP in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues might be a key event thathappens during hepato-carcinogenesis. And it suggests that CtIP play an important role inthe process of growth and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma.
