Objective: Investigate the effects of using the mixture of Watermelon Frostpowder and mouth wash to prevent and treat the nasopharyngeal carcinomapatients’ radiation-induced oral mucositis.Methods: The total52nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients who accept the firstradiotherapy enrolled and be randomly divided into two groups. When theGTV’s irradiation dosage up to20Gy,26patients in controls accept theconventional treatment by using mouth wash(0.9%Sodium Chloride Injection500ml, lidocaine hydrochloride10ml, Gentamycin Sulfate24MU,Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate Injection10ml, Vitamin B12injection1.5mg) to gargling before and after food.3-4times per day, The therapy groupswill accept another treatment by using the watermelon frost powder to sprayingon the surface of oral mucosa in order to form a protection membrane.and willeat and drink in1hours later.2times per day,5days a week. Observe themucositis and soreness when GTV accumulated dose at30Gy,50Gy,70Gy.Results: The response and soreness of oral mucosa in therapy group issignificantly better than controls(p <0.05). Conclusion: The combined watermelon frost powder and mouth wash intreatment radioactive oral mucositis is better than use mouth wash alone, andworth of clinical application.
