Abstract/Summary:
Background and objective:α-fetoprotein(AFP) has been the standardserum marker for the detection of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) for the last40years.However,the sensitivity and specificity of AFP were not satisfactory.Withthe development of recently techniques such as proteomics,it was possible fornew HCC markers being available. Golgi Protein73(GP73) was most likely tobe one of the more preferable serum marker, and the aim of this study was toevaluate the diagnostic value of serum GP73and AFP in HCC.Method:A search of Pubmed、OVID、Cochrane Library、CBM、Wanfangdatabase was undertaken. All the English and Chinese literatures for differentialdiagnosis of HCC by serum GP73and AFP were collected. Sensitivity, specific-ity, likelihood ratio and diagnostic odds ratio were pooled by meta-analysis.Summary receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to evaluatethe diagnostic value of serum GP73and AFP.Results:Twelve studies were included in the meta-analysis,with a total of6582cases.The sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likeliho-od ratio and diagnostic odds ratio of GP73in the diagnosis of HCC were0.75,0.93,6.35,0.32and20.03, and as for AFP those were0.54,0.86,4.45,0.52and10.28, respectively. The Q*value of GP73and AFP were0.7711and0.7440.There was no statistical significance between the two. Conclusions: Comparing with AFP,GP73has higher specificity and sensitivity with similar discrimination ability,so GP73might be a new index inthe diagnosis of HCC.
