Clinical Observation And Serological Analysis Of Theiridoid Glycosides Treatment For Primary Knee Osteoarthritis

Objective:To observe the efficiency and safety of plant extractsiridoid glycosides on treating primary knee osteoarthritis, and detected in the course of treatment patients with CRP and ESR of serum IL-1and MMP-9changes.Method:268patients were given peroraliridoid glycosides (pagosid) for8weeks, during which the changes of Joint tenderness index movable pain index, joint swelling index and daily activities were detected at the fourth weekend, the eighth weekend and the fourth weekend from withdrawal.30cases in which more serious swelling and pain in patients before treatment after detection of CRP、ESR、IL-1and MMP-9(ELISA method).Result:250patientscompleted the clinical observation, and18patients lost follow-up. All the clinical observations in the course of treatment were significantly improved, and there is a statistical discrepancy of effective rates among the patients when they had been treated for the4weeks and before medication (p<0.05), also between the8weeks’s time and the4week’s medication (p<0.05), and no significant difference between the8week’s and4weekend after cessation of therapy (P>0.05).witheffectiverates respectively reaching65.6%at the4 weekend,80.8%the8weekend and72.4%the4weekend after cessation of therapy.16patients with varying degrees of adverse reactionsin the course of treatment.The incidence of adverse reactions is6.4%,no cases to withdraw from treatment due to serious adverse reactions.Levels of CRP and ESR of all patients decreased to normal, IL-1and MMP-9significantly reduced.Conclusion:iridoid glycosides has significant efficiency, high quality of safety, low side effect on treating primary knee osteoarthritis, and Can significantly reduce CRP and ESR and serum IL-1, MMP-9, have a good anti-inflammatory role to protect the cartilage and alleviate the condition of osteoarthritis. and there is a statistical discrepancy of effective rates.
