Quantitative Analysis Of The Optical Coherence Tomography Of Idiopathic Macular Hole

Abstract/Summary:
Objective:To evaluate the treatment effect of patients of idiopathic macular hole. By observing and analyzing patient’s related data and image of OCT to guide clinical treatment in a better way.Methods:Doing a retrospective review of fifty-two eyes of52patients with IMH from August2011to April2012in our hospital. All of these patients are treated with vitrectomy with ILM peeling, and all of them also tamponaded with C3F8. Examing the visual acuity of pre-operation and post-operation and getting the image of OCT. And all of these data were statistically analyzed.Results:1. In fifty-two eyes of52patients with IMH, there are thirty-four eyes of43women and eighteen eyes of18men. Mean age is59±8. The ratio of successful anatomical closure of macular hole is90%, the ratio of patients who get visual acuity promotion is88%. And all of them are accepted vitrectomy with ILM peeling and tamponaded with C3F8.2. The minimum diameter of IMH is negative correlated with the postoperative visual acuity(P=0.001); the baseline diameter of IMH is negative correlated with the postoperative visual acuity(P=0.003); the HFF is positive correlated with the postoperative visual acuity(P=0.001); the macular hole’s anatomical closure is correlated with the postoperative visual acuity(P=0.043). 3. Patients of HFF≥0.6all get a successful anatomical reset; patients of HFF<0.51failed to get a anatomical closure of macular hole. In patients of0.51≤HFF<0.6, three of them get successful anatomical closure of the macular hole, three of them do not get successful anatomical closure of the macular hole.4. The duration of symptom do not correlated with the minimum diameter (P1=0.612), base diameter (P2=0.633) and postoperative visual acuity (P3=0.765)Conclusions:1. The ratio of successful anatomical closure of IMH is90%, the ratio of patients who get visual acuity promotion is88%.2. HFF would be a better parameter to reflect the post-operative situation.3. The duration of symptom do not correlated with the postoperative visual acuity, minimum diameter, and base diameter.
