Objective:TO compare the safety, comfort and visional correction between two kinds of SCL (soft contact lens) produced by compression molding and centrifugal casting technology.Methods:Design:complete-randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled clinical trial.72volunteers were randomized to compression molding group (experimental group) and centrifugal casting group (comparison group) in sequence, of which60volunteers finished the experiment. Watched visional correction respectively prior to wearing SCL, one week later, one month later and three months later; carry out the slit-lamp examination and evaluate the patient’s subjective feeling, cleanliness/precipitation and fitness of lens; measure the changes of geometry parameters of intraocular pressure, axis, anterior chamber depth, dioptre and corneal curvature radius before and after wearing SCL.Results:The difference between visional correction and dioptre of the two groups were no significant difference (P>0.05). At the end of the1st week, wettability of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the comparison group(χ2=13.438, P=0.001); at the end of1st month, foreign body sensation of the experimental group was lower than that of the comparison group(χ2=3.916,P=0.048).There were no significant differences in the indicators of the remaining points of subjective evaluation, lens’cleanliness/precipitation, fitness and the signs of ocular surface. Anterior chamber depth and intraocular pressure didn’t change during the process of wearing SCL. Before and after wearing SCL, The mean anterior chamber depth of experimental group were (3.73±0.25) mm,(3.74±0.25) mm, that of comparison group were (3.61±0.25) mm、(3.60±0.25) mm,respectively; the mean intraocular pressure of experimental group were (14.71±2.53) mmHg、(15.29±2.89) mmHg, that of comparison group were (14.71±2.53) mmHg、(15.03±2.30) mmHg, respectively; the mean axis of experimental group were (25.32±0.92) mm、(25.50±0.84) mm, that of comparison group were (24.95±0.73) mm、(24.99±0.72) mm, respectively; the mean corneal curvature of experimental group were (7.76±0.47) mm、(7.82±0.21) mm, that of comparison group were (7.72±0.21) mm、(7.75±0.18) mm, respectively. There were no differences between anterior chamber depth、intraocular pressure、axis、corneal curvature and that of before/after wearing SCL; there was also no differences between experimental group and comparison group(P>0.05).Conclusions:The two kinds of SCL presented equal effects in terms of visional correction, fitness indicator, lens’cleanliness/precipitation, and the signs of ocular surface. wettability of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the comparison group, and foreign body sensation of the experimental group was lower. SCL of compression molding was more comfort than that of centrifugal casting.
