The Expression Of ADAMTS-4and IGF-1in Synovial Fluid Of Knee Osteoarthritis Patients

Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of ADAMTS-4and IGF-1in synovial fluid of knee osteoarthritis patients.Methods A consecutive37patients diagnosed as OA from August2011to November at orthopaedic outpatient of the second Xianya Hospital were chose as experimental group. There are8males and29females with an average age of60.47±11.38years (range32-80). There are9patients suffered early-stage knee osteoarthritis, while the other28suffered medium-later-stage knee osteoarthritis. The control group contains5health volunteers, including2males and3females with an average age of33.80±5.93(range28-43) years. The content of ADAMTS4and IGF-1in synovial fluid of the patients was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)Results1. The concentration of ADAMTS-4in synovial fluid of experimental group (293.43±75.27ng/L) is higher than the normal group (209.00+10.87ng/L)(P<0.05). The concentration of ADAMTS-4in early-stage (368.16±108.76ng/L) OA patients is higher than medium-later-stage patients(269.41±39.86ng/L)(P<0.05).2. The concentration of IGF-1in synovial fluid of experimental group,(280.26±62.02ug/L) is higher than the normal group(196.88±33.06ug/L)(P <0.05).There is no statistical significance between the concentration of IGF-1 in early-stage(286.16±83.94ug/L) and medium-later-stage(278.37±55.00ug/L) patients(P>0.05).3. The concentration of ADAMTS-4and IGF-1in synovial fluid of the OA patients are positively correlated with each other (r=0.309, P=0.047<0.05)Conclusion1. ADAMTS-4in synovial fluid shows high expression in early-and medium-later-stage patients. The expression of ADAMTS-4declines as the development of osteoarthritis. The measure of ADAMTS-4may have value in the early diagnosis of OA.2. IGF-1in synovial fluid shows high expression in early-and medium-later-stage patients. There is no correlation between IGF-1and the severity of knee osteoarthritis.3. The concentration of ADAMTS-4and IGF-1in the development of knee osteoarthritis may have a synergistic effect.
