Objective:Study the predictive effects of serum osteoprotegerin levels on severity ofcoronary artery lesion measured by Gensini score.Analysis influence factors ofosteoprotegerin in patients with coronary heart disease in order to provide thread toclinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods:Patients (n=70) who underwent an immediately or selectively coronaryangiography (CAG) were selected in our hospital from June2011to September2011.According to their angiographic findings,70cases were divided into four groups:normalcontrol group, single, double and multi-vessel coronary artery lesion group.Serum OPGlevels were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).General clinicalinformation such as gender, age, body mass index and the corresponding biochemicalindicators such as TC,HDL-c were recorded.Data were analyzed by multiple linearregression method with SAS6.04software.Results: this study consists of the following two sections.1.Multiple regression analysis of Gensini score as the dependent variableResults: The Gensini score and serum bone OPG levels were positively correlated(P <0.001), high density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were negatively related (P<0.001). Serum osteoprotegerin levels were higher,Gensini score higher were; thehigher the level of high density lipoprotein cholesterol, the lower Gensini score. Serum OPG and the degree of the coronary lesions stenosis assessed by Gensini score waspositively related. Serum osteoprotegerin could be used as a predictor for the degree ofcoronary artery stenosis, rather than the independent predictor for degree of coronarylesions.2.Multiple regression analysis of OPG levels as the dependent variableResults:Significant linear relationship was found between serum OPG levels and thenumber of stenotic vessels, body mass index, high-density lipoprotein levels (P<0.001),respectively. Male patients with coronary heart disease had significantly higherserum OPG levels than femal patients (P <0.05). This study suggested that serum OPGlevel was effected above four factors. Conclusions:In this study, experimental methods and evaluation indicators are oninnovation. Multiple linear regression method for data analysis. Results confirmed thatseverity of coronary artery disease are positively correlated with serum OPG levels, negatively correlated with HDL-c levels, suggesting that serum OPG levels arepredictor of coronary artery disease, but not as an independent predictor. The study alsofound that the number of diseased vessels, high-density lipoprotein, body mass indexand gender affect the level of OPG OPG in patients with coronary artery disease andfurther suggest that OPG levels are the indicator of coronary heart disease rather thanindependent indicator.
