ObjectiveTo review the general records for twin pregnancies. And investigate their general clinical features, study the factors which influence the pregnancy outcomes, and explore the measures of improving the results in twin gestations.MethodsThe clinical data of272cases of twin pregnancies from2007to2011were collected and retrospective analyzed. The clinical document included maternal age, pregnancy age, complications, treatments, delivery time, and newborn babies’gender, Apgar score, weight and perinatal outcomes.ResultsThe incidence of twin was2.75%. The mean gestational age at delivery was35.48weeks. The twin pregnancy complications had high incidence, the main complications were premature delivery (PTL), pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), premature rupture of fetal membrane (PROM), anemia, and postpartum hemorrhage. The perinatal mortality of twin pregnancy was3.49%(19/544).Perinatal deaths were mainly related to premature delivery in twin pregnancies. The unique twin pregnancy complications (such as Twin pregnancy with intrauterine death of one twin, discordant twins) can lead to perinatal bad outcome increase. The gestational age at delivery and the birth weight were the two major factors influencing the perinatal outcomes. Augment perinatal care, prevention and cure various kinds of complication actively were useful to improve the results in twins gestations.Conclusion1. The twin pregnancy complications had high incidence, the main complications were premature delivery(PTL), pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), premature rupture of fetal membrane (PROM), and anemia. Perinatal deaths were mainly related to PTL in twin pregnancies.2.The incidence of low birth weight and neonatal asphyxia was high. Proper extension of indicates of cesarean section after34weeks on the basis of fetal specific condition was useful to improve the pregnant outcomes.3. The unique twin pregnancy complications (such as Twin pregnancy with intrauterine death of one twin, discordant twins) can lead to perinatal bad outcome increase.4. The gestational age at delivery and the birth weight were the two major factors influencing the perinatal outcomes.5.Augment perinatal care, prevention and cure various kinds of complication actively, avoidance premature birth, reduction low birth weight infant are the important measures to decrease the perinatal mortality and morbidity of twin gestations, to improve the results in twin gestations.
