Objective:The study is aimed to detect serum level of resistin、YKL-40in patients withulcerative colitis,to explore their role in the occurrence and developmentof ulcerative colitis. Methods:To collect52case of ulcerative colitis patients who meeting the standardand52case of sex-,age-matched healthy subjects. To measure the serumresistin、YKL-40level by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays method. Tocompare the difference of resistin、YKL-40in patients with ulcerative colitisand healthy controls, and the difference before and after treatment ofulcerative colitis patients. To analyze the association of serum resistin、YKL-40level with disease activity, extent of disease, respectively.Thecorrelation between serum resistin、 YKL-40and high sensitivity C-reactiveprotein analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis; Results:Serum resistin、YKL-40and hs-CRP level was significantly higher in ulcerativecolitis patients(19.56±4.13ng/m1,29.38±6.30ng/m1,12.42±3.70mg/L)thanin healthy controls(13.89±3.15ng/m1,20.0±4.83ng/m1,4.76±1.16mg/L),respectively. Serum Resistin、YKL-40level was significantly decrease aftertreatment with Aminosalicylate preparations or glucocorticoid.Serumresistin、YKL-40level in Severe ulcerative colitis patients was significantlyhigher than mild to moderate patients, respectively. Serum resistin level inmoderate ulcerative colitis patients was higher than the mild patients, but serum YKL-40level has no difference in moderate and mild patients. The serumresistin、YKL-40level in patients with pancolitis was significantly higherthan the patients with left-sided、proctitis and proctosigmoiditis. SerumYKL-40levels in patients with left-sided colitis was higher than proctitisand proctosigmoiditis patients. Serum resistin level has no significantdifference in left-sided colitis patients and proctitis and proctosigmoiditispatients. Serum resistin、YKL-40levels in patients with ulcerative colitiswas positively correlated with hs-CRP level,respectively.Conclusions:1. Serum resistin、 YKL-40level in patients with ulcerative colitis ishigher than healthy subjects, and they are correlated with degree ofdisease activity and the extent of disease, indicating that they can be usedas indicators of disease activity;2. Serum Resistin、YKL-40level was significantly decrease after treatmentwith Aminosalicylate preparations or glucocorticoid, indicating that theycan be used as indicators of treatment assessment;3. Serum level of resistin、YKL-40is positively correlated with hs-CRP level, suggesting that combined detection of Resistin、YKL-40and hs-CRP inpatients with ulcerative colitis will be helpful todiagnosis, monitoring, predict disease progress and treatment assessment ofthis disease.
