ObjectiveTo evaluate the application of chimney technique in the endovasculartreatment of thoracic aortic dissection.MethodsAbout3cases (2male,1female, between the age of46and60) ofwhich the patients took the endovascular treatment with chimney techniquein Dept of Vascular Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital ChongqingMedical University, during the year of2009and2011. CTA was takenbefore the surgery of thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair under generalanesthesia in the DSA operation room. One of the patients was operatedwith chimney technique on the left common carotid artery while the othertwo on the left subclavian artery. Imaging data before, during and after theoperation were collected, and6to12months’ follow-up was taken toevaluate the result and observe the complication.ResultsAll three patients were cured, with one steal syndrome and one type I leakage shortly after the procedure. No severe stenosis or occlusionoccurred, and the type I leakage disappeared after6to12months.ConclusionChimney technique might be an effective way to solve the problem ofthoracic aortic dissection involving branches on the arch of aorta, or theendometrial too close to the opening of left subclavian artery withoutenough anchor area.
