ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of fusion by using PAA-HA interbody cage in a goat cervical spine model.MethodsSixteen adult male goats exclude cervical vertebra disease and injury underwent c3-4discectomy and intervertebral fusion with PAA-HA interbody cage(n=8)or autogenous iliac(n=8). X-ray was taken at2th,4th,8th and12th week after surgery to measure the disc space height;CT scanning and histology examination was performed at4th,12th week after surgery to evaluate fusion.ResultsReferring to radio-graphy and histomorphology, the goats with PAA-HA cage or autograft all showed fine fusion at12th week, without significant difference. Conclusion The intervertebral fusion cage of PAA-HA has good initial stability and fusion. It may be an ideal interbody fusion appliance. |
